CES 2014 – 3D Printing

The potential for 3D printing has been around for some time now, but what I saw at CES 2014 stretched my imagination even further.

You can now print an entire Nike shoe with this machine. Whoa!

Nike has actually already used 3D printing in 2013 (along with other brands) to test manufacture some shoes, but those machines were custom built for them. This machine puts the power into the hands of virtually EVERYBODY. China would probably be salivating. If I was Nike, I would be getting a bit worried. Only thing left is to wait for the price of this amazing machine to drop – just give it some time…..

Below is another object of beauty that was recently printed – beautiful

You can definitely print your own face, put it at the door, and give your friends a welcome scare when they visit 😉

This is how the machine works when it prints your face. Less complex than the amazing (shoe/flower vase) ones earlier, but still pretty impressive

And finally, the rest. These were already highlighted in 2013, but I am still awestruck by the fantasy figurines – reminds me of the movie “Aliens” when I was growing up. Awesome
